Mr Matthew Kent

Mr Matthew Kent Mr Matthew Kent is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in shoulder and elbow surgery. After graduating from Liverpool University he undertook his junior doctor training in the Mersey region. His formal orthopaedic training took place in the Cambridge region where he developed his interest in shoulder and elbow surgery. The final year of his formal training was as a fellow in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital developing specialist skills in Elbow surgery.

After completion of his training he returned to Liverpool to undertake a further yearlong fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery gaining very specialist skills and experience in a center recognised internationally for this type of work.

He was appointed as a Consultant in the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals in 2011. Following his appointment he has visited specialist centres in Europe and he was awarded a prestigious travelling fellowship from the British Elbow & Shoulder Society allowing him to spend time at a number of centres of excellence in North America bringing new ideas and techniques to Liverpool.

Mr Kent has a keen interest in research with involvement in clinical trials locally and nationally. He is the research lead for upper limb surgery in the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust. He has also been awarded a masters degree through Cardiff university in orthopaedic engineering after a thesis on upper limb biomechanics.
